Things are on the up say town firm David Jameson Roofing

Portadown firm, David Jameson Roofing, believe in recruiting at least two apprentices each year - and one out of five secures permanent employment with the company.

Based in Portadown, David Jameson Roofing is a family business which was established in 1985 by David Jameson Snr.

David Jameson Jnr, director of the company said "There has been a lot of negativity and a lack of confidence in the construction trades but things are really on the up and we are looking at a shortage of skilled workers."

He continued, "Buildings will always be here, whether new buildings or older buildings which need to be repaired, and we will always need skilled and experienced tradesmen.

We source our apprentices from Southern Regional College and the standard is very high. Whilst the classroom is important, it's not until these young people are out on site in all weathers that they really get a feel for the job.

"We employ around 69 people at the moment we are working in England and Scotland, so there are real opportunities for talented apprentices."
